River travel in London used to be the way to get around, there was a thriving and busy port, goods were transported by river and if you wanted to get to the dock and duck for a half pint you hopped on a boat and made your way. This all came to an end with the advent of road transport and when the port was destroyed during the war it wasn't repaired again. For a city that made it's money from it's river we were pretty quick to desert her.
